Welcome to Mossley Hollins High School
GCSE RESULTS 2014
SOARING SCORES FOR MOSSLEY HOLLINS STUDENTS
The staff and governors of Mossley Hollins High School would like to congratulate our Year 11 (The Class of 2014) for their soaring success at GCSE today. An astonishing 83% (our best ever results and 6% higher than last year’s best) of them achieved the national measure of 5 or more GCSE Grades at A*-C including English and Mathematics. Students did well across the full range of subjects with 88% achieving A*-C in English (40% of whom achieved grades A* or A) and 86% A*-C in Mathematics. The students are hugely delighted with their Science results, with 95% of them achieving two or more A*-C in Physics, Chemistry and/or Biology. The school is absolutely over the moon with results in GCSE French, where 88% of students achieved at grades A*-C.
The school is most proud of our less advantaged students (those in receipt of Free School Meals) whose progress was exceptional: this is testimony to the hard work put in by the students, their families and our teachers and support staff.
There were some really strong individual performances: Celia Mayers achieved 10 grade As with 7 at A*. Daniel Laycock also achieved 10 As with 5 at A*. Megan Woodward achieved 4 A* in her 9As. There was also a host of A*s from Georgia Blackshaw, Emily Gulla, Saskia Stimpson, Jessica Goodson, Connor Batters, Joe Ball, Elizabeth Zrada, Jordan Challenger and Thomas Hughes.
The school is particularly pleased by the astonishing progress in learning across the 5 years from Yasmin Gibson, Charlotte Pickering, Emma Woodhead, Luca Carzedda, Gianni Giovannie, Kyle Quarmby-Hiddith and Molly Hopwood; all of whom performed at a level way beyond their own expectations.
Though singling out individuals for a particular mention, what is most obvious about our results is how well all our students have done: we wish them continued success at college and beyond.
The headteacher, Drew Duncan, Vice-Principal Jean Beaumont and Chair of Governors, Mr John Denton would like to pass on our congratulations and thanks to the students, parents, teachers and support staff for all the hard work and support which led to such fabulous results in 2014.
